Stage Fright
Heart pounds
But you're the only one who hears it
Audience watches
But you're the only one who fears it
Stage is waiting
As you start to near it
Standing up front
Mouth opens wide
Everyone watches
There's no place to hide
Eyes on you
Most on your side
The show ends
First weight is finally lifted
Greet the crowd
Everyone tells you you're gifted
A sigh of relief
Your mood is finally shifted
New day comes around
New show brings it back
Sun leaves for the moon
The fear begins to attack
It's not as bad as before
But it's hard not to crack
There is a person
Someone in your cast
She has dark black hair
You never noticed in the past
Yet you head on over
Realizing something at last
"Are you nervous?"
She looks up into your eyes
"Very" she says
And you let out a sigh
For in that moment all the fear dies
She gives you a smile
And you give one too
For it is now clear
You both realize it's true
That every night when the moon starts to glow
She has stage fright just like you.
I feel like this poem doesn't relate to you because it seems like you don't have any stage fright at all when your're performing.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with Zeke that you have never had fear of public speaking. Great poem tho Chad
ReplyDeleteI don't see you having any stage fright at all. You are very confident on stage. I have trouble doing the W.W. fenn speaking contest in the classroom never mind being in front of a large audience.
ReplyDeleteYou get stage fright?... Great poem and the rhyming in each stanza really made it unique
ReplyDeleteGreat poem with an awesome message in your last stanza!
